Wete Ambela Coffee is a startup founded in 2018, and Mekuria is the director of production. Mekuria was in the hotel business until he started buying the first kilos of coffee cherries from some local producers, supplying some export companies. One of its priorities is to provide better conditions for the education of workers' children, as a way to value and invest in the future of recent generations.
The cherries are meticulously chosen and selected to separate those that are not ripe. They are then transferred to the tanks where they are filled with water to remove the floaterers, in other words, the cherries that didn’t meet the quality criteria. After that, the beans are transferred to the African beds to start drying.
