Kamwangi is a washing station that belongs to the Cooperative Society of Farmers of New Ngariama, in the district of Kirinyaga, which employs up to 50 people during the harvest season. The area has a volcanic soil, well drained and fertile at altitudes of more than 1,100 meters, with about 1,400 mm of rain annually.

It is a double fermentation process, that consists of depulping the cherries immediately after harvesting and placing the mucilage-coated seeds in fermentation tanks, maintaining contact with water at least for 12 to 24 hours. After cleaning the coffee, the first step is repeated and then separated into batches, which are soaked for another 24 hours, ending with the drying phase until it reaches about 11 - 12% humidity.
