Aricha is one of the washing stations in Yirgacheffe that supplies Mebrahtu, the export company from Aynalem, Boledu Industrial. The station and drying mill were founded by Boledu in a partnership with Abyote Ageze and local farmers.”We are the second generation of coffee growers and now salesmen in our families. We decided to build a natural processing coffee station in Aricha to be used by small producers who live in our region. Approximately 1500 coffee growers use our facilities and we have 220 African beds for coffee drying.”, says Mebrahtu. Boledu means “fountain” in our local language and it combines over 12 years of Abyote and Mebrahtu coffee experience. “We produce and export traceable natural and washed coffee qualities, washed in our own washing stations, located in the area of Guji, Dimtu Hamblea, Yirgacheffe, Aricha and Gedeb.” “The farmers we work with have been part of the process for a while now. The natural process takes quite longer than the washing process, due to the weather. It changes due to moisture, temperature and the amount of sunlight. The cherries are dried in African beds to provide just the right amount of air flow and the coffee is turned frequently. When the desired level of moisture is achieved (between 14 and 21 days, depending on the weather), the dry cherries are cleaned and stored.
